A Day in a Life

As part the 2017 Beltway poetry slam team, we were commissioned by the Washington Area Women's Foundation
to write a poem in celebration of their young women advisors.
I am very humble and very proud!
It was my distinct honor to write and perform with the Slam Poetry Team representing the DC-Maryland-Virginia area at The National Poetry Slam in Denver, August 2017
I'M ON BUTTON POETRY'S CHANNEL!
This was recorded the second night of Prelim Bouts at The 2015 Women of the World Poetry Slam. I was so afraid to do it, I tried it out earlier that day at the Black Women's Open Mic. A poet named Shannon Matesky, who was in Bout 10 with me, convinced me it was too important to NOT do it.
SUICIDE IS SERIOUS! Talk to someone. Please.

I am SO grateful to the humans at Button Poetry & all the good people who lend me constant support.
POETS & WRITERS LIKE ME!
This is my second round poem from Final Stage at The 2015 Women of the World Poetry Slam; it was dedicated to my daughter.
NAMING THINGS was a last minute decision, but I'm so happy I did it. On July 22, 2015, it was chosen as poem of the day by Poets & Writers online.
I hope you like it too.
